Privacy

What the site collects, which is very little.

Alpha Finance works without an account and collects very little. An account is optional: it is only needed to keep a My Terminal dashboard on every device. This policy explains what is collected, why, which third parties are involved when you use the site, and what you can ask of us. It is issued by Block Media Pty Ltd (ACN 671 787 965), the operator of the site.

What we collect

  • Messages you send us: If you write to hello@alphafinance.io, we keep the correspondence for as long as it is needed to deal with it.
  • Server logs: Like every website, our hosting and proxy providers record the requests they receive, including IP address, time, page and browser type. Logs are used to keep the site running and secure, and are not used to profile individuals.
  • Request counters: To stop automated traffic from exhausting the data feeds, our proxy counts requests against the IP address they come from. A counter holds a number, not what was requested. It is deleted within two days and is not used for anything else.
  • Your email address, if you join the newsletter list: The Weekly Alpha has not launched yet. If you sign up, we store your address, the page you signed up on and the time, in our database at Supabase. We do not store your IP address with it, and no confirmation email is sent. The address will be used only to send The Weekly Alpha. To be removed, write to hello@alphafinance.io. When the newsletter launches, every issue will carry a one-click unsubscribe and this page will name the email service that sends it.

No page requires an account. The optional account asks only for an email address, and the site never asks for a phone number, a wallet address or any financial information. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

If you create an account

  • Your email address: You sign in to My Terminal with a link or code emailed to you. We hold your email address so the same account opens on every device. There is no password.
  • Your dashboard: The panels you picked, their sizes and order, and their settings, such as the coins in a watchlist. It is saved against your account so it opens the same way everywhere.
  • Sign-in records: Supabase, which runs sign-in for us, records when you sign in and, to keep accounts secure, the IP address and browser of each session.
  • The newsletter, only if you tick the box: Signing in does not add you to The Weekly Alpha. If you tick the box on the sign-in form, your address is added to the list as described above.
  • Deleting it: You can delete your account yourself from the account menu on My Terminal. That removes your sign-in and your saved dashboard at once. You can also ask us to do it at hello@alphafinance.io.

Alpha AI

  • Your question: When you ask Alpha AI something, the question and the last few turns of the conversation are sent to our server function and on to Anthropic, the provider of the model, to be answered. We do not store questions or answers. Anthropic handles them under its own privacy policy.
  • Your IP address: The beta allows a fixed number of questions per visitor per day. To count them, the function keeps a counter against your IP address. The counter is deleted within two days and is not used for anything else.
  • What not to type: Do not put personal, account or wallet details in a question. Alpha AI does not need them and cannot use them.

What stays in your browser

The terminal stores small preferences in your browser, such as the asset or window you last selected on a dashboard and whether you have read the Alpha AI notice, so a page opens the way you left it. These are kept by your browser, never sent to us, and can be cleared with your browser's site data. My Terminal also keeps a copy of your dashboard in your browser so it draws at once, and, if you sign in, the token that keeps you signed in. Signing out removes both from that browser. We do not use them to track you across sites. The site's own code sets no cookies.

Third parties

  • Supabase: Most live data reaches your browser through a proxy we run on Supabase, which also runs the Alpha AI function. Supabase sees the request your browser makes, including your IP address. If you create an account, Supabase also stores it and your dashboard.
  • Resend: Only if you sign in by email. Resend delivers the sign-in email, so it receives your email address and the message.
  • Data providers: Some dashboards have your browser request figures directly from the provider, for example Binance, Deribit or Coin Metrics. Those requests go to their servers and are subject to their privacy policies. The methodology names the provider behind every dashboard.
  • Images from publishers: News thumbnails and prediction-market images load from the servers of the outlet or market that published them. Those servers see your IP address, but we tell your browser not to say which page it came from.
  • TradingView: Only if you switch the Crypto Prices chart to its TradingView view. That chart is loaded from TradingView's servers, which see your IP address and may set their own cookies, under TradingView's privacy policy. Nothing of theirs loads until you choose that view.
  • Google Fonts: The site's typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which is subject to Google's privacy policy.
  • Anthropic: Only if you use Alpha AI, as described above.
  • Exchanges you click through to: If you follow a link to an exchange, including an affiliate link, that exchange's own privacy policy applies from there. We do not receive your account details from it.

We do not embed advertising networks or social-media trackers, and we do not run an analytics service. If we add one, this page will name it and say what it records before it is switched on.

Overseas processing

Supabase, Resend, Anthropic and Google are based outside Australia and may process the information above in other countries, including the United States.

How long we keep it, and how it is protected

  • Retention: Correspondence is kept for as long as it takes to deal with it. A newsletter address is kept until you ask to be removed. An account and its dashboard are kept until you delete the account. Request counters and the Alpha AI counter are deleted within two days. Server logs are kept by our providers on their own schedules.
  • Protection: Newsletter addresses sit in a database that cannot be read from the public site, and access is limited to the people who run Alpha Finance. A saved dashboard can be read only by its owner's own signed-in session.
  • If something goes wrong: If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will tell the people affected and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Children

The site is written for adults and is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, or ask for it to be corrected or deleted, by writing to hello@alphafinance.io. We reply within 30 days. We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles. If you are unhappy with how a request was handled, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you have equivalent rights under the GDPR, including the right to object and to complain to your local data protection authority. The same address applies.

Changes

When this policy changes, the review date on the card beside it is updated. A change that affects what is collected is announced on the site before it takes effect.
